A new study has just been release from the University of Southern California stating that a new computer algorithm can predict if your marriage will improve or worsen with 79% accuracy. This algorithm analyzes the ton of voice you use with your spouse.
This algorithm was tested by monitoring 100+ couples during therapy sessions over the course of two years, and then the couples marital status was tracked for the next five year. They compared the predictions of the algorithm against the descriptions of the therapy sessions run by relationship experts and the algorithm predicted the martial status of couples experiencing serious marital issues more accurately though the ton of the couples voices. On September 6, 2015 this research was published in Proceedings of Interspeech. The algorithm produced by the interdisciplinary team complied by Engineering students from USC and a doctoral student from University of Utah. The algorithm examines warble, intensity, and pitch as well as many factors of the couples voices while talking to one another. The results are from multiple sessions and interactions between the couples throughout the therapy sessions. In conclusion what you say and how you say it matters.
